guitar tip #1

  •  Above all else, the main point I'm trying to make in this post is that practice must be a daily habit. Every guitar student wants to be a lot better as quickly as possible. Skipping days here and there may stifle your growth so much that you become discouraged or even worse. If you only practice once or twice a week you can kiss rapid improvement goodbye. You'll be lucky to even maintain your current skill level. there are millions of exercises and songs to practice and what you choose to play is not nearly as important as picking something that you can play right and then performing the same thing each day.
  • Make a list of things you play well.
  • Perform the items on the list every day for at least 1 month before you consider changing.
  • Make sure that you can count the rhythm and play the piece confidently.
So turn a new leaf today and clean your practice area. Get a good chair and a music stand. Try a timer and a practice journal. If it's worth practicing then it's worth writing it down in your journal. Commit to a solid routine and make it a lifestyle change! Give up "Call of Duty" for 30 minutes and turn off the cell phone. Nothing is more important to your development than making up your mind to practice every day.
